Shimano XT BR-M8100 (L + R) is a two-piston disc brake set with ice tech brake pads especially for all mountain and cross-country use. The calipers are characterized by excellent brake control and a simple connection system. The I-Spec EV compatible BL-M8100 brake levers are mounted at an angle, resulting in an additional contact point. This increases rigidity and provides more direct feedback. In addition, Shimano Servo Wave boosts the braking performance: with shorter idle travel, more performance is available.

Technologies:

Servo Wave

The Servo Wave brake lever absorbs a large amount of braking distance at the beginning of its movement, so that the pads can be guided to the brake disc with a small lever travel. After application of the brake lining, the force transmission factor increases rapidly. The greater part of the lever travel is thus still available to increase the braking force and to dose more targeted. 

I-Spec EV

With the I-Spec EV construction, the Shimano shifter can be mounted directly on the brake lever, eliminating the need for a clamp and significantly increasing the adjustment range. 14 mm are available with I-Spec EV for longitudinal adjustment, 20 ° for adjustment in the direction of rotation, so that each driver can make a setup that suits his or her individual anatomy or preferences. I-Spec EV handles are not compatible with older I-Spec systems. 

One-Way Venting

One-way venting is designed to quickly and easily prevent air from being in the hydraulic system. Shimano has optimized the brake fluid path throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from entering the system.

The brake fluid path in only one direction, together with the hopper for filling the mineral oil, allows for clean, trouble-free bleeding. 

Ice-Tech

Fading the brake during prolonged uninterrupted operation, for example in the downhill, affects the braking performance. Shimano has introduced brake discs and brake pads with Ice-Tech technology to provide cooling technology for consistently high braking performance. The brake disc has a three-layer stainless steel sandwich structure around a core made of aluminum. It radiates heat better and reduces, for example, a surface temperature of 400 ° C to 300 ° C. In addition, the brake pads optionally have cooling fins on. The construction of the disc in conjunction with the cooling fins results in a longer service life of the lining, less brake noise, less fading and a lower weight.
