The Shimano Saint FC-M820 comes as a crankset with a 34-tooth chainring. For many years it has been the reference in Downhill sport in terms of resilience and performance. With its steel axle, the strongest in the Shimano range, and its steel pedal inserts, it can withstand any ordeal. But the weight of the Saint was also taken into account, as its balanced Hollowtech II construction proves. The FC-M820 is compatible with 68 mm and 73 mm bottom bracket housings and can optionally be equipped with a special chain guide and bash guard.

With regard to the entire crankset, an optimum ratio between the strength of the crankarms, the stiffness of the axle, the bearing position and other features is very important. During the development of the crankset, the overall balance of all individual elements was carefully considered in order to ensure maximum stability. Outer bearing: On most 68 mm bottom bracket shells, the Hollowtech II 24 mm axle can be mounted outside the frame for better weight distribution and stability. High-quality precision seals: The Hollowtech II set also features high quality precision seals in the bearing area to extend durability and maintain excellent rotation efficiency over time. The axle and the 24 mm diameter bearings ensure optimum balance of the crankset and optimum transmission of power to the bicycle.

 

Shimano Modular Chain Device (SMCD)

Win in all types of gravity races! The Shimano modular chain guide (not supplied with the crank) is robust and efficient. The rider can choose one, two or no chain guard, depending on course and use. The chain guide has an impact protection to protect the chain and the chainring from hits. And thanks to the replaceable silencer, there's less distraction from noise, so you can concentrate on the ride. In addition, the Shimano modular chain guide ensures an extremely stable and low-noise drivetrain with the Shimano Shadow+ rear derailleur.
